Here comes the sun: solar share facility to go live this year

Our Solar Share program has reached a milestone with the recent groundbreaking of the first 500-kilowatt section. The first of eight sections is fully subscribed, and construction is underway. We’re expecting full production from the first section this summer. Enrollments are being taken for the second 500-kilowatt section.

The Solar Share program allows customers who want to support solar energy a more convenient way to do so. Customers may simply prefer to avoid the up-front cost and ongoing maintenance of a private system. With Solar Share, they can help power their communities with local renewables by choosing a subscription level and paying a monthly fee of $6.27 per share. In return, customers receive a credit on their monthly bills based on the subscription levels and the amounts of solar energy produced by the facility.

The Solar Share facility is located along I-64 in Shelby County, Kentucky. The site can accommodate a four-megawatt solar field.
