Doing the dishes and doing the energy-saving thing

When looking for ways to reduce energy usage, don’t forget the dishes. If you use a dishwasher, there are a few things you can do to reduce water usage and to be more energy efficient.

  • Thousands of gallons of water will be saved over the life of your dishwasher simply by not rinsing dishes before washing them.
  • If your dishwasher has a booster heater, use it. That’s much more efficient than increasing the temperature on your water heater.
  • Run the dishwasher with a full load only.
