Around and around they go, helping to cool the people below

Summer heat is not far off, which means you’ll want to keep your home cool and comfortable without overworking your air conditioner and driving up your energy usage. Ceiling fans are a great way to maintain comfort in a more energy-efficient fashion. For example, using ceiling fans along with your air conditioner can allow you to lower your thermostat by as much as four degrees without losing any comfort.

Ceiling fans should be set to rotate counterclockwise in the summer. Also, remember to turn off the fan when you leave the room – ceiling fans cool people, not rooms.

In the market to buy a ceiling fan? We recommend looking for one with the ENERGY STAR® label. A model with that designation will use only about half the electricity a standard unit uses.
